Monkeys Forced to Race on Dogs’ Backs: Help End This Stupid Event

Monkeys…strapped to dogs…forced to run around a racetrack. 🤦 Introducing the Banana Derby: aka one of the world’s dumbest events.

This show travels the country, performing at county fairs and festivals. The owner, Philip Dolci, has been cited by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for not giving the animals enough space, enrichment, and clean food. The monkeys are forced to pose for photos with tourists, which is dangerous for both the monkeys and humans.

Experts say that monkeys used in these cruel stunts show signs of anxiety and a blank facial expression, which points to a condition called “learned helplessness.” And ofc they’re feeling helpless—the derby doesn’t care about them, so we need to have their back. 💪
