Skincare company Lanolips claims that the lanolin—the waxy substance on sheep’s wool—used in its products is “humanely (& cruelty-free) sourced” from “happy” sheep. 🤔 But do the sheep in the pics below look happy and humanely treated?

Of course they don’t! Companies use this type of language (aka “humane washing”) to trick consumers into thinking the products they buy aren’t harming animals. 😠 Here’s the truth: Lanolin is always a product of cruelty to animals.

The lanolin used in skincare products comes from sheep who were raised for their wool. By selling these products, Lanolips supports an industry that mutilates, punches, and stomps on sheep before slitting their throats. 🐑 😨 And now the company is trying to market lanolin to us as “humanely (& cruelty-free) sourced”? Wtaf.

Besides being cruel, using lanolin in skincare products is completely unnecessary. Shea butter, orange wax, and other vegan ingredients are super-moisturizing and don’t support the violent wool industry. 💞

Sheep and consumers deserve better—please urge Lanolips to remove all false claims from its website and switch to using only vegan ingredients stat.

I’m concerned because Lanolips is making false claims—including that lanolin is “humanely (& cruelty-free) sourced” from “happy” sheep. Wool and lanolin are always products of cruelty to animals, which is why I urge you to remove this misleading language immediately.

The wool industry, which includes lanolin, is inherently violent and deadly. PETA entities have documented cruelty to sheep raised and killed for their wool, including at 117 operations on four continents (in Australia multiple times as well as in Argentina, Chile, England, Scotland, and the U.S.). Every single case revealed horrific abuse. Workers punched sheep in the face, stomped and stood on their necks, and violently sheared their fleece from their delicate skin—leaving them with gaping, bleeding wounds that were crudely stitched up without painkillers.

Shea butter, orange wax, and other vegan ingredients replicate lanolin’s moisturizing, hydrophobic, and tackiness qualities without supporting the violent wool industry. I encourage you to use them instead.

Abuse goes into each of your lanolin products. Given your commitment to ethics and morals and your belief that beauty products should be cruelty-free, I urge Lanolips to remove all false claims immediately and switch to using only vegan ingredients.
