Before you reach for a package of Oreos, you should know this: PETA has found out that Mondelēz International, the maker of Oreos, paid experimenters to force-feed human poop to mice before killing them. 🤢
After hearing from PETA in 2018, Mondelēz set up a limited ban on animal testing for its products and ingredients. However, it left a big loophole: to “only engage in Animal Testing … when it is needed to advance fundamental knowledge in nutritional science.” 🤦
Guess what? Testing on animals is never needed to advance our knowledge of science. There are so many humane methods of experimentation that are legit relevant to human health—yet Mondelēz has been funding cruel and pointless experiments that have tormented countless animals, including by doing the following:
-
Force-fed human poop and a diet that’s high in saturated fat to mice, then killed them.
-
Force-fed human poop to mice, fed them a chemical and a diet that’s high in saturated fat, then killed and dissected them.
-
Force-fed human poop and glass beads to mice and fed them a diet high in saturated fat.
-
Fed rats a mixture of chips, crackers, and candies, force-fed them glucose, and took their blood over and over.
Mice are smart, social animals who can recognize their names and respond when called, love their fams, and enjoy sleeping curled up with each other—they def don’t deserve to suffer and die in these gruesome experiments. 🐭 There’s only one way Mondelēz International can make things right for mice: Join PETA’s revolutionary Eat Without Experiments program, which makes it easy to see which food and beverage companies do or don’t test on animals. We won’t rest until Mondelēz International agrees to stop its experiments on mice and other animals. 💪
Please urge Mondelēz International to stop cruel and useless animal testing by joining PETA’s Eat Without Experiments program!
