Animal Dealer Reportedly Leaves Animals to Die in Vans

UN LAB Middleware Label: Title Ends

A delivery driver leaving something in an unattended vehicle overnight is already a red flag—but what if we told you that “something” was a live animal?? 😱

A whistleblower recently hit up PETA regarding BPD, Inc. (formerly “Barney’s Pets Inc.”), a massive dealer and breeder of small animals that reportedly supplies PetSmart, Petco, and other animal traffickers. We were told that BPD, Inc. drivers transport live animals—including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, birds, reptiles, and other small animals—across multiple states on multiple-day trips and leave them in unattended vehicles for long periods, including overnight.

News flash: Animals are NOT objects! Treating them like a pair of shoes someone ordered can only lead to disaster—and the whistleblower told us it has. During transport, hundreds of animals per vehicle reportedly don’t have the water, ventilation, or temps they need. Animals allegedly often escape from enclosures, and drivers abandon them wherever the vehicle is when the doors are opened or leave them for dead in the vehicle. 😰. We were also told that reckless drivers have crashed vans full of live animals and left one unattended vehicle running, which led to it and the animals inside being stolen.

If you’re pissed at BPD, Inc. rn, you aren’t the only one: Countless online reviews absolutely trash the company. According to the complaints, animals have arrived at stores malnourished, suffering from untreated respiratory infections, ringworm, or other ailments, or even reeking of cigarette smoke.

Small animals have thoughts, feelings, and interests—they don’t deserve to be treated like online orders. PETA urgently asked the company to take action ASAP to ensure that all animals are provided with safe, lawful, and humane handling, care, and transportation—but the CEO of BPD, Inc. hasn’t responded. 😒

That’s where you come in—please join us in asking him to act now and share this with your friends to pump up the pressure!
