Animals Starved and Beheaded for Blueberries

UN LAB Middleware Label: Title Ends

Blueberries are animal-friendly…right? We should be able to enjoy this delish vegan superfood knowing that it doesn’t harm animals, but hold everything— the top U.S. blueberry growers group pays experimenters to douche, poison, starve, suffocate, behead, and slice open animals in deadly tests. 😱

Experimenters funded by the berry council have tormented countless animals in painful tests, including by doing the following:

  • Starved mice, injected them with chemicals, douched their vaginas, and killed and dissected them.
  • Injected mice with cancer cells, fed them fruit, then killed them.
  • Fed rats blueberries, damaged their brains with radiation, forced them to perform confusing and stressful memory tasks, cut their heads off, and dissected them.
  • Fed mice a high-fat diet and then starved them, cut out 70% of their stomach, jammed a catheter into their arteries, and killed and dissected them.

Humans have safely eaten blueberries for thousands of years, and human clinical studies have already shown the health benefits of this fruit. There’s no reason to kill animals for this. Period.

Take Action

If you’re pissed rn, remember: We have the power to change this. After talks with PETA, other agricultural boards, including the Hass Avocado, Mango, and Watermelon boards, have adopted policies banning funding and conducting tests on animals. Tons of other major food and beverage manufacturers have, too. The berry council can help save countless animals from suffering and dying by doing the same—but only if we speak up together. 💪

Please urge the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council to stop funding all experiments on animals. First, send polite comments to the following person:
