PETA India has exposed the cruelty behind the closed doors of Palamur Biosciences, a major government-registered laboratory and beagle breeder that experiments on animals, including for clients in the U.S.
Pics and vids that PETA India got from whistleblowers show dogs suffering wounds and abscesses, pigs with bloody mouths, terrified monkeys, and neglectful staff. The following are just some of the many horrors reported by the whistleblowers and exposed by PETA India:
- Palamur apparently got illegally wild-caught rhesus macaques from a supplier. Some tested positive for dangerous pathogens, but the company kept quiet and just killed the monkeys.
- Dogs in some experiments suffered ālike hellā with untreated and open, painful wounds, a whistleblower said. š¢
- Dogs in other experiments suffered ulcers in their mouths or intestines, and footage shows dogs lying in pools of blood.
- Staff often killed dogs without using sedation to make them less afraid and distressed.
- Palamur didnāt have a license to breed minipigs at its facility, and when a female gave birth, staff painfully killed all of her piglets by cardiac injection without using sedation.
This dog developed a facial abscess, likely from a subcutaneous injection of a test compound, while others crammed into crowded cages suffered fight-related injuries.
What You Can Do
PETA is urging the National Institutes of Health to cancel its permit for Palamur that allows this hellhole to serve as a āperformance siteā for drug and other companies that want to submit test data to U.S. gov agencies. We need your help to get this whole cruel operation shut down.
