Help Save Octopuses From Having Their Heads Clubbed in—Stop Octopus Farming!

UN LAB Middleware Label: Title Ends

Wake up, babe, new octopus bill just dropped! 🐙

A bipartisan bill in Congress, the Opposing the Cultivation and Trade of Octopus Produced through Unethical Strategies (OCTOPUS) Act (S. 1947), has been reintroduced. It would ban commercial octopus farming in the U.S. and the import of live or dead farmed octopuses from foreign countries.

A company in Spain got the green light to build the world’s first intensive octopus farm, so we need to help get this bill passed ASAP. 🚨🚨🚨

Octopuses can feel joy, excitement, pain, and fear. These smart, sensitive animals have been known to use seashells for protection, steal food from traps set by fishers, decorate their ocean homes, and even escape aquarium tanks. Keeping them on farms would lead to unnatural aggression, cannibalism, injury, and death as they fight and struggle to escape.

At the end of their miserable lives, the octopuses would be painfully slaughtered, their brains cut into, or their heads clubbed in. 😢 We can stop this, but only if we get Congress on board.

Please urge your senators to cosponsor the powerful OCTOPUS Act!
