This Student Travel Company Profits from Elephant Abuse—Urge It to Stop

UN LAB Middleware Label: Title Ends

ICYDK, elephants can bathe themselves perfectly well— but student travel company Rustic Pathways is selling a cruel and dangerous elephant bathing experience just to make a profit. 😠 Students like you need to call the company out on its exploitation!

In their natural habitat, elephants spend their days socializing, swimming, and playing, but at sham elephant “sanctuaries” and other tourism facilities, they’re often torn away from their moms, chained, gouged with sharp objects, and forced into stressful interactions with the public. 😢 This takes a massive psychological and physical toll on these sensitive, intelligent animals and can quickly become dangerous. Tourists and handlers have been gored, injured, trampled, or even killed, including recently when a tourist was killed after an elephant panicked during a bathing encounter in Thailand.

A student travel company that profits from elephant abuse goes completely against our generation’s care for animals. More than 50 major companies, including Carnival Corporation, Royal Caribbean, Airbnb, Expedia, Tripadvisor, and Booking.com, have stopped selling experiences that exploit elephants—please urge Rustic Pathways to follow their lead! 🐘 💙
