Vuori says it cares about animals and the planet but sells activewear made from down—the feathers closest to a duck’s skin, which keep them warm. 😑 Here’s why that makes zero sense.

No matter what Vuori claims, there’s no such thing as “responsible” down. Every feather comes from birds who suffer and are eventually killed.

Just look at what PETA entity investigations have exposed in this industry:

Birds are kept on dirt lots caked with poop or in filthy sheds. A worker stretched geese’s necks across a stump and hacked at them with a dull axe while the birds screamed.
Ducks were stabbed, had their throats slit while still conscious, and had their feet cut off while still moving.
One slaughterhouse owner said workers never check whether ducks are conscious before killing them.
The “Responsible Down Standard” is complete B.S. Farms have said they don’t even know they’re certified, leaving birds to suffer while their down is sold as “responsible.” 😒

Birds need these feathers; humans don’t. Selling jackets filled with down = cruelty to birds + climate chaos + water waste. Vuori already sells animal-free insulators like Primaloft® Thermoplume, so why keep down on the racks?

Please urge Vuori to ditch down! 🪿🦆❤️

I’m disappointed to learn that you are selling down in some of your jackets, even though you claim to be guided by your values and care about the planet.

Down is anything but “responsible.” PETA entity investigations into operations certified by the Responsible Down Standard have revealed that birds are restrained and often slaughtered while they’re still conscious. At one farm, birds’ necks were hacked out with a dull axe while they cried out, and at slaughterhouses, ducks are stabbed in the neck, and some even have their feet cut off while they’re still moving. The oversight for this certification is so poor that farm owners might not even realize their down is certified under the standard. This label offers little protection to birds and does not stop their suffering.

The only way to protect ducks and other birds is for Vuori to stop selling down and sell only the fabulous, warm, and eco-friendly vegan insulators it already sells, like Primaloft® Thermoplume.
