Update (April 29, 2026): We’re celebrating the news that 1,500 beagles imprisoned at Ridglan Farms will be saved from being sold to laboratories to be caged, cut up, and killed! Instead, Big Dog Ranch Rescue and the Center for a Humane Economy will take custody of the dogs. We’re grateful to those groups and all the activists, organizations, and donors for their work to get these dogs into homes. Here’s the catch: The dogs who are still trapped at Ridglan could be sold to laboratories before the July 1 deadline, when the company has to surrender its state breeding license. We found out that East Tennessee Clinical Research, a contract testing laboratory, may buy these dogs. Please urge the company to reconsider its relationship with Ridglan by taking action below. Please also join us in urging Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers to help get the dogs released to reputable shelters and rescue organizations by using this form. (Click on “start form” to begin the simple process.) Non-U.S. residents can contact the governor at [email protected].
Original post:
Ridglan Farms has been exposed for all this and more:
- Staff have cut off dogs’ swollen eyelid glands with scissors without pain relief.
- Records show nearly 275 puppies born each year died while still there, and those who survived were sold to laboratories.
- Dogs have been confined to tiny metal cages, suffered from untreated wounds, and had swollen feet from standing on wire floors.

What You Can Do
Ridglan Farms has to end its dog-breeding operation for laboratories by July 1, 2026, but that’s wayyyyy too long for the dogs still trapped there. Universities and companies that have bought dogs from Ridglan should commit to cutting ties with this hellhole, stop funding it, and transition to non-animal research methods.
Please urge the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the University of Missouri-Columbia, and East Tennessee Clinical Research to act now to help make sure that all dogs still imprisoned at Ridglan are released and placed in caring homes. 🐶🐶🐶
