Eddie Bauer is lying to you about feathers.

PETA and PETA Asia investigated farms across China, where most feathers and down (the layer of feathers by a bird’s breast) used for jackets, sleeping bags, and bedding come from, and saw workers rip crying geese’s feathers out—leaving open, bloody wounds—while the birds were conscious.

Workers stepped on the geese’s wings and necks, put them in chokeholds, and bound their feet together to keep them from running away.
Chicks, geese, and ducks were left to die slowly from sickness or injury. 😡 Dead birds were found decaying in crates and ponds or tossed outside like trash.

Some companies use B.S. labels like “responsible” and “non-live pluck” to make their down products look all cutesy and gentle. 😑 But when investigators talked to suppliers for these companies, they straight-up said that they buy and sell live-plucked down, and one buyer even bragged about lying to customers.
“The plucking is done in secret; we’re unwilling to pluck openly.”
—Down industry representative
There’s no such thing as “responsible” or “humane” down—please urge Eddie Bauer and Hollander Sleep Products to ditch down and sell only vegan options!
