Dead Baby Goats = “Responsible” Mohair? Help Stop the Suffering!

UN LAB Middleware Label: Title Ends

You’re about to see hell on earth for goats. As you’re watching, think about this: Do these farms seem “humane” and “responsible” like they claim to be? 🤔

Goats Scream as Workers Shear Them for Mohair
Shearing is extremely stressful to goats, who are instinctually terrified of being pinned down. The undercover footage from PETA Asia includes footage from mohair shearing sheds in South Africa and Lesotho. It shows workers hitting, jabbing, whipping, and poking goats in the face and back with brooms and poles to try to force them into pens or control their movements.

They grabbed and dragged the animals by their ears, horns, tails, legs, and fleece, making them fall, flail, or cry out during shearing.

Because shearers are paid by volume, not by the hour, they work so quickly and carelessly that several panicked goats were left with bloody wounds. One goat was suffering from a large, gaping wound after reportedly being attacked by a jackal—but a worker cut around their torn flesh, anyway, as the animal screamed in agony.

At one facility, the bodies of several dead goats—including a baby goat—were found tossed in a heap.

Everything you’ve just seen happened at facilities certified by something called the “Responsible Mohair Standard”. No, seriously. 🤦

The only responsible thing would be to let goats enjoy their lives. They wag their tails and jump for joy when they’re happy. Mother and baby goats recognize each other’s unique calls—or “bleats”—shortly after birth. But in the mohair industry, goat kids are shorn starting as early as 6 months old, and as soon as they’re seen as no longer useful, they’re slaughtered. Wtf is responsible about that?

Tell Designer Paul Smith That Mohair Belongs Nowhere—Except on Goats’ Bodies
Paul Smith markets mohair as a “specialty,” but behind every mohair item are blood, panic, beatings, and cries from goats.
Goats need their hair; humans don’t. Full stop. The best thing that you can do to help goats is to refuse to buy mohair—and urge Paul Smith to stop selling it! 🐐❤️
