Help Save Horses From Dying on NYC Streets

UN LAB Middleware Label: Title Ends

On August 10, 2022, a skinny horse named Ryder, who was used for carriage rides, collapsed in the middle of a packed New York City street. He lay on Ninth Avenue for over an hour—while his driver slapped him, whipped him, and screamed at him to get up—before dying. Ryder is one of many killed by the horse-drawn carriage industry.

Horse-drawn carriage operators ignore every rule put in place to protect the horses and the public. 😡 And here’s the thing: Ryder’s death wasn’t a rarity. Just days before the 2025 anniversary of Ryder collapsing, another horse named Lady collapsed and died while pulling a carriage in Midtown Manhattan. Horses are gonna keep dropping unless we put an end to the madness.

Please urge New York Council Member Schulman to stop blocking Ryder’s Law, which would ban horse carriages in New York City! 🚫
