Over 400 dolphins have already died at SeaWorld—many far short of their natural life expectancy—and over 130 others are crammed into just seven small tanks at the parks.

In nature, bottlenose dolphins have big squads, choose their own mates, and swim free in the ocean, but dolphins at SeaWorld are forcibly bred—sometimes after being drugged—and have nothing to do but swim in endless circles 24/7.

Many artists—including Jason Derulo, Barenaked Ladies, Cheap Trick, Willie Nelson, and Trisha Yearwood—have canceled their performances at SeaWorld. I was disappointed to learn that you plan to perform at SeaWorld, despite knowing that bottlenose dolphins, orcas, and other animals are suffering and dying at the “abusement” park.

Although SeaWorld stopped breeding orcas after facing mounting criticism, 16 of them are still languishing at the parks, and more than 40 have died from causes such as severe trauma, intestinal gangrene, and chronic cardiovascular failure. Other dolphins and whales are still being bred—forcibly and, in some cases, after being drugged—and more than 130 dolphins are crammed into just seven tanks at SeaWorld’s U.S. parks, where they have nothing to do but swim in endless circles.

Your fans would have to pay for admission to see you perform—so the company would not only profit from your appearance but also be able to brag about the spike in attendance, reinforcing its decision to hold complex animals in cruel, unnatural conditions.

Will you please join many major artists—including Jason Derulo, Barenaked Ladies, and Willie Nelson—by rethinking performing at SeaWorld in the future?
